Your employees don’t have to wait for office hours to manage their health plans. Our online tools allow members to manage their health plan at any time that’s convenient.
Here are some of the things your employees can do using www.discovery.co.za and the Discovery app:
Store their medical scheme membership card on their smartphones
Smartphones follow their owners everywhere, and with the Discovery app your employees’ digital membership card can too. The digital card is a safe and convenient way to store, access and view membership details.
We are not phasing out the plastic Discovery Health Medical Scheme Card. Instead, the electronic medical scheme membership card is a second, digital copy of your membership card. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can access the digital card through the Passbook app.
Track benefits online
Members can see how much they’ve spent on medical expenses and what benefits they have available online; your employees don’t have to wonder about their health plan’s benefit limits since they can check that online too.
Another way of tracking available benefits is to subscribe to daily claims notifications on the website. We will send members an SMS or an email each time we receive a claim to tell them how it affected their benefits and benefit limits for the year.
Update details and manage notifications
The website allows members to subscribe to notifications, add emergency contact details and change the password for the website as well as changing banking details for debit orders and claim reimbursements.
Find a healthcare provider
Using doctors in our networks lets your employees stretch their benefits further. The Discovery app and the website allows our members to find their closest healthcare provider as well as showing how we will pay if they visit them. Your employees should choose providers marked with full cover to avoid having to pay part of the cost themselves. Our tools allow members to search for GPs, dentists, specialists, hospitals and pharmacies.
Request us to email policy documents
Policy documents such as your medical scheme membership certificate, tax certificate and application forms and benefit guides are important, but members don’t use them often. Your employees don’t have to dig through all their documents to find them. Instead they can ask us to email them the documents at any time through the website and the Discovery app.
