Over-the-counter medicine includes treatment for headaches, coughs, cold and minor skin conditions, according to the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority.

So, if you're still paying full price for your over-the-counter medicine, it's time to activate the Vitality HealthyCare benefit and get up to 25% back every month.

How to get up to 25% back on your over-the-counter medicine

Make sure your HealthyCare benefit is active and that you've selected either Clicks or Dis-Chem as your preferred partner.

Then, when you collect your medicine:

1. Ask the pharmacist if you can pay in cash instead of taking it from your Discovery Health Medical Savings Account (MSA). Medicine taken from your MSA does not qualify for rewards.
2. Remember to swipe your Clicks ClubCard or Dis-Chem benefit card at the medicine counter.
3. Pay for your medicine at the till and swipe your Clicks ClubCard or your Dis-Chem benefit card again.
4. You can get between 10% and 25% back on your medicine every month once you complete your Vitality Age and Vitality Health Check assessments.
